I'm not great with words, but I have to share something in remembrance of Adele. Adele and I were in the same cohort in the MPH Nutrition program at UNC. I quickly learned that Adele contained multitudes. She was confident, funny, intelligent, passionate, generous, fearless, and personable. She was a pot stirrer in the best way. She contributed much to our graduate school experience.
At graduation, Adele invited our cohort to her beach house to celebrate. It was a lovely time. We cooked together; I made gumbo. Soon after, Adele surprised me with a gift - a big beautiful cast iron skillet, "because that gumbo helped her kids like okra." 😄 I use that skillet almost every day, and every time, I think of Adele. What a sweetheart.
Another way Adele inspired me was in her relationship with Greg. Their love and adoration of each other was unmistakable. Although their time together in this life could have been longer, I have no doubt that they put a lifetime of love into the years they shared.
Rest in power, Adele. Gone, but not forgotten.
